The tour took place in schools and venues in the Greater Manchester area between 8th and 12th October 2012.
Turton High School & Alder Grange Community and Technology School
In the beginning was the word, and the word was: “Turton High School.” OK, three words.
This was the first of ten stops on my tour around the Greater Manchester area, and what a brilliant start it was. 240 Year 7 pupils crammed into the hall to listen to me talk about squirrels, flying horses, and – occasionally – books. Read more...
St. Paul’s Peel Primary School & St Charles R.C. Primary School
Today was the second day of my tour around Greater Manchester. Or, as I like to call it, “Day 2.”
After the success of yesterday I’ll admit I was nervous. Two good days in a row would be unlikely, surely? Today was sure to be at least a partial disaster. St Mary's Primary School & Z-Arts
At one of the events today Beth and Michael from the Scottish Book Trust spotted Mr Mumbles, the horrifying stitch-lipped psychopath from my first Invisible Fiends books. He was standing right up at the back, scowling at everyone who dared meet his eye. Read More...
St. Paul’s Catholic High School & St Paul's Church of England Primary School

Tomorrow I go home, assuming I somehow survive the night with 160g of protein surging through my veins, and vivid hallucinations involving cows stampeding endlessly through my nightmares. Failsworth School & Manchester Creative and Media Academy
So that’s it. Done. Finished. Finito. My week touring around the Greater Manchester area is over, and what a week it was. Over the course of the five days I spoke to more than 1500 children from around 15 schools. I posed for dozens of photographs, signed hundreds of books, and consumed a number of very strange lunches. (Roast turkey with all the trimmings. At 11:30am on a Tuesday. Madness.) Read more...
