Who will be crowned as next week’s #SuperSaver?

Happy Friday to all you football fans! We hope that you’ve had a super week of saving, because we certainly have! There are some exciting games to look forward to this weekend. In the Premier League, it all hots-up as we head towards the Christmas break – some serious saving required there!

Last week’s winner

Last week’s prediction didn’t go exactly to plan, as we predicted that Hugo Lloris of Tottenham would claim our award. However hopeful we might have been, and in a terrible fall of events, Lloris had an absolute shocker of a weekend but we’ll have to forgive him.

Instead, we crowned the young Spaniard Joel Robles as our pro #SuperSaver of the week. In a blinding performance for Everton, Robles demonstrated that youth and athleticism can overcome experience as he conceded a total of zero goals. If that’s not sheer brilliance, then I don’t know what is – simply Maravilloso!

Our #SuperSaver prediction this week

It’s getting pretty serious at the top of the Premier League now, as teams are put through their paces and tested to the max. It’s all to play for at the moment, but who will come out on top? We’ll find out this weekend.

It’s that time, once again, where we predict this weekend’s #SuperSaver. We calculate our award by using a simple algorithm – measuring the shots taken per game, minus how many goals have been conceded. This week, we predict that the next #SuperSaver will be Swansea City’s Łukasz Fabiański. Fabiański started his Premier League career at Arsenal where he was mainly used as a backup (though he did get called to play when they won the 2014 FA Cup Final!). He has also represented Poland on over 30 occasions, and was selected for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2008. Swansea City have had a tough time so far this season, lying second from bottom in the league table, but we’re sure that Fabiański will do a top job!

The weekend is but a wee save away! I’ll be heading out onto the field to keep a close eye on our UK goalkeepers, so remember to keep saving, folks! Also, don’t forget that our #SuperSaver competition to find the UK’s best amateur goalie ends this Sunday. So, snap those saves and Tweet us for a chance to win your best goalie £250 of sports gear!
