Scottish Friendly supports England!

Press release – 13th June 2010

Scottish companies get ‘Friendly’ with England supporters

They don’t call it Scottish Friendly for nothing. The day after the Auld Enemy kicked off its World Cup campaign in South Africa, the bravehearts at Scotland’s biggest mutual organisation expressed their support for football fans south of the border with the launch of the England Supporters Bond in conjunction with Soccer Savings.

The new plan was launched today (Sunday 13 June) by model Aisling Friel and piper Greg Canning at Firhill Stadium in Glasgow.

England fans who take out the 10 year England Supporters Bond can invest up to £25 a month – meaning a tax-free lump sum just in time for that special VIP trip to the Euro 2020 Championships.

Anyone taking out an England Supporters Bond through Soccer Savings receives an England supporters car flag and an England strip after two monthly payments. And if England wins the world cup, Soccer Savings will give £19.66 cash back to anyone who takes out a policy during the World Cup.

Neil Lovatt, sales and marketing director of Scottish Friendly said: “While we have a Scottish history and tradition we are very much a British company and with so many of our customers and partners in England we are of course proud to be backing Stephen Gerrard and his team all the way.

“This plan is the perfect way for families to get into a regular savings habit while making use of their tax free savings allowance. And with a minimum monthly payment of £10 it’s affordable and can build towards a healthy return in 10 years time.”
