Scottish Friendly launches National Football Team ISA

Press release - 9th May 2014

Start the Mexican Wave....or the Malawian, Malian, Moroccan or Mozambique wave, for that matter. To coincide with the footie in Brazil this summer, Scottish Friendly, the Glasgow based savings and ISA experts, has launched the My Team Select (ISA), adding a healthy bit of competitive fun to saving during the tournament.

From today, anyone who opens a My Team Select (ISA) through Scottish Friendly’s website, can choose which team they’re supporting in the upcoming tournament. The mutual and financial services group have pledged to give anyone who takes out a plan a £25 gift, plus a further £25 gift if their selected team wins the trophy. The option is open to anyone who opens a My Team Select (ISA) before Saturday, July 12, and savings can start from as little as £10 per month.

Neil Lovatt, director of ISAs at Scottish Friendly, comments:
"The run up to the football fest is always exciting, but what if you could choose which team to back, as opposed to being stuck with your own country – who, in my case, hasn’t even qualified (but that just means I can enjoy it). There is a serious side too; getting into a good savings habit is really important in these uncertain times. ISAs aren’t just for the wealthy; just £10 per month could help towards the things you’d like in life. Saving and investing doesn’t have to be boring: with a bit of commitment, it could mean that diehard fans could even be paying for tickets and flights to a future tournament."

The launch will be announced through unconventional means; a flashmob highland dance will be taking place at Victoria Station at 1pm today. Each dancer will wear a different country’s football kit to promote the launch. A discussion has now started on Twitter, using the hashtag #ScotFriendlyMob.

The My Team Select (ISA) invests in stocks and shares, the value of which can go down as well as up and your original investment is not guaranteed. The My Team Select (ISA) should be considered as a medium to long-term investment for a period of at least 5 years. If the plan is cashed in within the first five years, an exit fee of £50 will be applied.
