The leading friendly society won the Arts & Business Scotland Young People Award for the ‘Meet Our Authors’ initiative. Run in partnership with Scottish Book Trust, cutting-edge technology is used to stream live events with best-selling children’s authors across the web including the BBC and social media sites.

The Arts & Business Scotland Awards are held each year to celebrate the most outstanding and creative partnerships between business and arts organisations. The Minister for Culture and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop MSP, presented specially commissioned award pieces to the winners in eight categories in front of an audience of 350 guests from business, the arts and the media.

Calum Bennie, marketing manager for Scottish Friendly said:

We have worked in partnership with Scottish Book Trust for over 10 years. The Meet Our Authors campaign was an exciting and innovative project for us to be involved in and it fills me with great pride to be recognised for our work. The project has been a huge success by taking inspirational authors to thousands of children across the UK via the internet. There are some fantastic authors lined up for the next stage of the campaign and I’m confident it will continue to grow from strength to strength.

Scottish Friendly is also shortlisted for the national Arts & Business Awards for ‘Meet Our Authors.’ The public can vote for Scottish Friendly and Scottish Book Trust at artsandbusiness.org.uk
