Fiona McBain MA, ACA - Chief Executive
Fiona McBain joined Scottish Friendly in 1998 as Finance Manager and was promoted to Finance Director in 2001. She joined the Board in April 2005 prior to becoming Chief Executive in January 2006. She is a director of Scottish Friendly subsidiary companies, Scottish Friendly Asset Managers Limited, Scottish Friendly Insurance Services Limited and Scottish Friendly Trustee Company Limited. Prior to joining Scottish Friendly, Fiona was Financial Accounting Manager at Prudential plc. Fiona qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Young (now Ernst and Young) where she spent some time working across a number of industry sectors, both in the UK and in the U.S. Fiona graduated from Glasgow University with a MA (Hons) in Psychology. Fiona was awarded the coveted title of Scottish Enterprise Female Director of the Year at the Institute of Directors (Scotland) Award Ceremony in March 2007 and in November 2008 was awarded the prestigious Business Leader of the Year at the Glasgow Business Awards. This complements Fiona's previous awards for Female Director of the Year (2007) and Glasgow Business Leader (2008). Fiona continued her success in 2010 receiving two prestigious awards for the coveted title of Director of the Year (Glasgow & West of Scotland) and Female Director of the Year for 2010 at the Institute of Directors (Scotland) Awards as well as being Highly Commended within the 2011 UK Director of the Year (Large Company) category. Fiona is a director of the Association of Financial Mutuals and is Chair of the ABI Life Insurance Committee members' forum. Fiona is also a Non-Executive Director of Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC and is a trustee of the Robertson Trust.
Jim Galbraith BSc, MBA, FFA - Deputy Chief Executive
Jim Galbraith has been with Scottish Friendly since 1988. He became the Society's Deputy Chief Executive in 2009. Prior to this Jim was Appointed Actuary from 1997 and became Director of Strategy in April 2005. He was appointed to the Board as an Executive Director in April 2006. Jim is also a director of Scottish Friendly subsidiary companies: Scottish Friendly Asset Managers Limited, Scottish Friendly Insurance Services Limited and Scottish Friendly Trustee Company Limited. Prior to joining Scottish Friendly, Jim worked in IT and in marketing for Scottish Life where he qualified as an actuary. Jim graduated in Actuarial Mathematics & Statistics from Heriot Watt University and went on to obtain an MBA from the University of Warwick in 1993. Jim's remit to date at Scottish Friendly has encompassed all aspects of actuarial and risk management, product development, tax, compliance and customer service. He also led the projects to implement the wrap administration services for Nucleus and for Aviva.
Neil Lovatt ACII, BA (Hons), MSc - Sales and Marketing Director
Neil Lovatt joined Scottish Friendly in June 2006 as Sales and Marketing Director. Neil is responsible for all aspects of marketing, product development and distribution channels. Prior to joining Scottish Friendly, Neil had 14 years marketing experience at Scottish Life, latterly as Head of Marketing Development. He previously served 6 years in Scottish Life International running the marketing operation as Director of Marketing Development. Neil is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, has a BA (Hons) in Politics from Hull University and a Masters Diploma in Investment Analysis from Stirling University.
