The 20th Anniversary of the Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour, rolled further north in May when pupils from 17 schools from Argyll & Bute, Highlands and Western Isles were visited by children’s author, Nicola Davies, between 7-11 May. Check out our video where Nicola, in a spectacular South Uist location, speaks about inspiration for books, why reading is important and life on the road with Scottish Friendly!
The tour focused on Nicola’s latest picture book, ‘The Promise’ and was attended by hundreds of school children over five extremely busy day. Nicola’s key focus was discussing issues around conservation and encouraging pupils to take a renewed interest in nature and their local environment.
‘The Promise’ tells the story of a young thief who snatches an old woman’s bag. But inside, she finds something more precious than money, something that changes her life and sets her on a new path. It’s a book with a key underlying message of hope for humanity and for Earth.
