We’re changing our fund range

As we've grown over the years, we've been able to offer a wider range of funds, including our own and those from new customers who’ve joined Scottish Friendly through our acquisitions. However, our range of funds and investment products have become extensive and in some cases, we offer too many funds with the same or similar objectives.

As a result, we've been reviewing if these provide the best outcomes for our customers.

What changes are we making?

We’re reducing our existing fund range and streamlining the options available. This means you’ll benefit from having access to our core fund range. You’ll be pleased to hear that these changes will make investing with us simpler and more effective for you.

We've appointed Schroders Investment Management Limited as our new dedicated investment manager. Their experience and strong performance made them our first choice.

Schroders provide investment solutions (known as the ‘underlying fund’). This change aims to maintain consistent investment strategies and improve focus by working with one investment manager. It also means that for the vast majority of our customers, the new underlying funds will have similar exposure to the financial markets currently in use.

Why we're making changes

A review of our current range of funds, highlighted that we can better serve our customers by both reducing the number of funds offered and the number of investment managers we use.

With this in mind, we’re transferring our customer’s investment holdings from a range of investment managers to a single investment manager, Schroders Asset Management.

This will not only benefit you by allowing you to select funds which more accurately match your investment strategy. It may also reduce the annual management charges which you pay.

How this change affects you.

Our team has carefully matched your current investments to the most similar new fund(s) provided by Schroders. We’ve been looking at unit-linked funds that closely resemble your existing investment based on asset type (e.g. equity, bonds), geographical location (e.g. UK, Global) and the level of risk within the fund.

If you’re not sure about these changes and whether the new fund is suitable for you, you can switch to a different fund from our new range. Please note different unit-linked funds have different objectives which may not match your existing fund as closely. If you’d prefer a different option, you can choose from other available funds.

When will these changes take place?

As outlined below, your current fund(s) will close, and your investments will automatically move to a fund from our new range. Any ongoing payments will also be redirected to your new fund.

Unless you request a different fund, we’ll automatically close your current one and switch your investment to the new fund between the dates shown above. The changes will appear in your next statement.
