Scottish Friendly colleagues raise £14,800 for Action for Children during fundraising weekend
Scottish Friendly is proud to announce that a recent colleague fundraising weekend has raised £14,800 in support of Action for Children, one of Scotland’s largest children’s charities supporting vulnerable children, young people and families.
Colleagues from across the organisation came together to show their support and raise vital funds. Seven colleagues laced up their trainers to take part in the Great Scottish Run 10K which took place on the 4th October, demonstrating fantastic team spirit and commitment.
Others contributed to the success of an autumn raffle by donating prizes and purchasing tickets, with family and friends also taking part. And despite the Boycott Your Bed Glasgow fundraising event having to be cancelled due to severe weather conditions, 12 colleagues signed up to participate in the sleep out at Hampden Park, continuing their support through donations and fundraising efforts.
In addition to their team fundraising, Scottish Friendly funds two wellbeing practitioners who spend their time supporting young people in schools around Glasgow, equipping them with the tools and coping mechanisms to help with ongoing challenges. This support is vital to the young people and families who receive it. The practitioners use a mix of group discussions, cognitive restructuring techniques, physical and social activities, and reflective homework to reinforce skills. These approaches help young people build emotional resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and promote early intervention in mental health, empowering them to better navigate life’s challenges.
Commenting on the amount raised, Alexander Manas, Chief Commercial Director at Scottish friendly commented:
“Raising over £14,800 is an extraordinary achievement and a true reflection of the generosity, resilience, and team spirit of our colleagues. In the face of challenges, everyone rallied together with unwavering commitment to make this meaningful difference for the children and families who need our support most.”
Fiona Steel, National Director for Scotland at Action for Children commented:
“We’re so thankful to the team at Scottish Friendly for their incredible fundraising effort and unwavering ongoing partnership which makes a real difference to children and families.
“Together by delivering the wellbeing practitioners we’re able to offer expert support to the children and young people who need it most. We help build their confidence and offer the tools to re-engage with education meaning it’s an early intervention before other potential challenges arise later in life.”
Scottish Friendly continue to support Action for Children through fundraising and volunteering opportunities, reinforcing its dedication to creating positive social impact in the local communities it serves.
