A look at how we operate

We aim to deliver value to members, investors and corporate partners through a combination of tax efficiency, mutuality, administration service delivery and efficient management.

The voice of our members

Being a mutual means that we are accountable to our members, so it’s important that they’re able to have their views represented at our Annual General Meetings.

This happens through our delegate system and committee.

Annual general meetings

Our Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are the forum through which we communicate performance to the Scottish Friendly delegates (who are representatives of the members of Scottish Friendly).

It’s also where we pass a number of important votes which impact on the direction and management of Scottish Friendly.

Board committees

In certain circumstances our Board finds it useful to set up Committees to exercise power on its behalf.

We currently have five committees: Audit, Risk, Renumeration, Nomination and Investment. Each has it’s own terms of references, membership and remit that has been agreed by the Board.

Our responsibilities

Our regulatory obligations

The Scottish Friendly Marketing Group consists of several companies that are authorised and regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority and Financial Conduct Authority.

Solvency II

Solvency II is a set of rules governing how insurers are funded and governed. Every year we publish a Solvency and Financial Condition Report to comply with these regulations.

UK Complaints Data

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requires financial services firms to report on the number of UK FCA reportable customer complaints they recieve on a half yearly basis.
