Scottish Friendly donates over £23k to support Action for Children

Mutual life and investments organisation Scottish Friendly has donated £23,500 to help Action for Children support vulnerable families and children.

The donation is a continuation of Scottish Friendly’s existing relationship with Action for Children and will provide much-needed support during the cost of living crisis that is impacting so many vulnerable families throughout Scotland.

Each year Scottish Friendly has launched a giving back campaign during the festive period to support a charity, and previous years have seen the investment firm run a prize giveaway for each policy taken out by customers.

However, this year Scottish Friendly wanted to do more to help vulnerable families in light of the cost of living crisis underpinned by steep rises in energy bills together with hikes in food and petrol prices. This led to a new campaign where Scottish Friendly vowed to donate £10 to Action for Children for each ’My Adult ISA’ or ‘My Junior ISA’ policy opened by a customer, or added a new policy, during the period 1st December through to 31st December.

At the end of the period, a total of £23,500 was raised and the final figure is expected to grow further as more direct debit payments come in from customers.

Paul Carberry, Action for Children’s Director for Scotland commented:

We are extremely grateful for the support and generous donation from Scottish Friendly.

Last year was another difficult period for families in Scotland and, unfortunately, 2022 is going to be even more challenging, especially for the most vulnerable families. We are in the midst of a cost of living crisis which looks likely to worsen as the year goes on.

Action for Children will continue to be there for children, young people and families to support them in any way we can, however more families are going to need help as they struggle to afford basic essentials such as heating and food. This support from Scottish Friendly is hugely appreciated and will allow us to give a helping hand to families this winter and beyond.

Jill Mackay, Head of Marketing for Scottish Friendly commented:

Helping vulnerable children, young adults and their families is something we find extremely important, and we were all therefore delighted to support Action for Children.

With the rising cost of living set to continue for the foreseeable future, we recognise that many households will continue to struggle as the effects of rising inflation and price increases for even the most basic consumer goods stretch purse stings even further.

The team wanted to give a little something back to those who need it most and we hope that what has been raised goes some way to doing just that.
